Build A Golem Islands Guide
Each island opens a new ore zone — but only if your golem can actually mine it.
Islands in Build A Golem are the gate between early-game dirt mining and late-game crystal rates. They cost Cash to unlock and each one opens a fresh ore zone with higher base output. The catch: an island with a dirt golem still pays dirt rates. Buy the island only after a better body can actually use it.
This guide assumes you already understand the mining loop and the crafter. If you have not snapped a body yet, do that first.
What islands actually do
An island adds a new ore plot to your available zones. You can place a golem there and earn higher $/s than the starter zone. The crafter stays at spawn — you do not get a second assembly machine. Each island is a prettier mine, not a new factory.
Islands unlock progressively. The first is cheap enough for a 75k RELEASE dump. Later islands scale up fast; read the price before you commit.
Unlock order logic
- Starter zone — free, comes with the tutorial. Your first dirt golem lives here.
- Island 2 — costs Cash, unlocks a second plot. Buy this when your current miner earns the price back inside one offline session.
- Island 3 — higher unlock cost, higher base ore value. Requires a stronger golem to make sense.
- Further islands — each tier adds a pricier zone. Only buy when your golem builds outpace the zone you currently occupy.
Never unlock a new island on the same day you put a dirt golem on it. Wait until you can afford a better core, then unlock and upgrade simultaneously.
Why new players should wait
A common mistake after redeeming RELEASE is to dump 75k into the next island instead of parts. Result: a shiny new zone with a $5/s miner that takes three real-life days to pay back the unlock fee. Better plan:
- Build a complete dirt miner and park it.
- Earn enough Cash to afford a crystal or mixed core.
- Unlock the next island.
- Move the upgraded miner to the new zone.
This sequence means you never lose income during the transition.
Island tiers and ore values
Each island has a base ore multiplier. Starter zone is 1x. Island 2 might be 1.5x. Island 3 could be 2x. These numbers compound with your golem’s Cash/s stat. A crystal golem at 10x your dirt rate on Island 3 is the target.
When exact multipliers are posted by the community, they will appear on the parts tier list table. Until then, watch your Cash/s after moving to a new zone: if the number jumps, the island was worth it.
Auto Unlock and scripts
Community scripts listed under auto farm advertise Auto Buy Island. This is a convenience feature, not a requirement. Manual unlock gives you a checkpoint moment: you decide when the price is worth the move. Auto-unlock at dirt-tier income can bankrupt your overnight bag.
If you use a script, cap the auto-buy at a specific Cash threshold so it does not fire when you are 200 Cash short of a better core.
What to do after unlocking
- Move your best golem to the new plot immediately.
- Check if the unlock triggered any Rewards claims.
- Redeem any new codes from the codes hub — island patches often ship with fresh keys.
- Reassess luck since higher zones make rare rolls more valuable.
The starter checklist does not include island steps because you should not touch this page until after your first miner walks. Use the checklist for session one; use this guide for session three onward.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for rolling parts, crafting golems, and claiming cash.
What do islands do in Build A Golem?
Each island unlocks a new ore zone with higher base output. You place a golem on it to earn more Cash/s.
Should I buy islands with RELEASE Cash?
No. Buy a complete golem first, then unlock islands when your miner can recoup the cost.
Can I use scripts to auto-buy islands?
Yes but cap a Cash threshold. Auto-buy at dirt-tier income can drain your wallet.
Do I need a better golem before island 2?
Yes. A dirt miner on a new island still earns dirt rates. Upgrade the body first.
